Liquorice Root Extract Lightens Dark Spots and Evens Out Complexion
Liquorice root extract has anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory and skin brightening properties that help relieve eczema, sensitive skin and reduce hyperpigmentation. It has been proven to even out complexion, restore skin radiance and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
Liquorice root extract contains glabridin, liquiritin and isoliquertin. Glabridin is the main compound in liquorice. It is a strong antioxidant that has the ability to inhibit melanogenesis, the process in which melanin pigment is produced in the skin. Liquiritin is a flavonoid that has anticancer and skin brightening properties. It evens out skin tone and lightens dark spots by dispersing the melanin. Isoliquiritin inhibits tyrosinase activity. Tyrosinase is the enzyme which plays a significant role in the melanin production in the skin. By inhibiting the tyrosinase activity, isoliquiritin helps prevent and reduce hyperpigmentation.
Liquorice root extract is one of the key ingredients in Antioxidant Youthful Essence.
