The quest for youthful skin is never fading as long as human beings are still breathing. Hundreds billion dollar must have been spent for anti-ageing studies and yet there is still no definite answer on how to stop ageing completely. As an anti-ageing scientist, I have been formulating skincare products for almost two decades. One of my favourite anti-ageing ingredients is Resveratrol.
What is Resveratrol ?
Resveratrol is a substance found in the skin of red grapes, berries and japanese knotweed. Studies suggested that resveratrol has numerous health benefits such as reducing the risk for various cancers, protecting brain cells from damage and slowing down the ageing process. Often taken as a health supplement, resveratrol has also been used in skincare formulations to help preserve the youthfulness of the skin. What are the potential anti-ageing effects of resveratrol skincare products?
Resveratrol Prevents UV-Induced Skin Damage and Ageing
Exposure to UV rays can cause premature damage to the skin. Studies showed that when your skin is exposed to UV rays, it triggers the formation of free radicals in your body. Free radicals are the harmful free molecules that cause oxidative damage to skin cells and DNA.
Studies showed that Resveratrol is capable of neutralising free radicals and preventing oxidative damage. It has more powerful anti-ageing effects than vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin, gallic acid, ellagic acid and idebenone.
If you spend a lot of time outdoor during the day, protect your skin from uv-induced damage by applying Bio-Collagen Serum all over the face and neck, follow with a sunblock. This luxurious anti-ageing serum has been specially formulated with resveratrol, ferulic acid, coenzyme Q10, stabilised vitamin E and scutellaria baicalensis plant extract to work synergistically with a sunblock. It helps protect your skin from UV damage and signs of ageing.
Testimonial: “ Facelift in a bottle! Delighted with my purchase. Within minutes my skin feels tighter and looks fresher. ” Rachel, UK.
Resveratrol Helps Prevent UV-Induced Skin Hyperpigmentation
A recent study in 2019 suggests that along with its anti-ageing effects, resveratrol helps prevent uv-induced skin hyperpigmentation. This study showed that resveratrol regulates the melanin production in the skin. Exposure to UV rays is known to increase the production of melanin pigment in the skin which causes the skin to darken and triggers the formation of brown spots, also known as pigmentation spots.
Hyperpigmentation is a sign of damage in the deeper layers of the skin due to UV radiation. As the excess pigments are deposited deep within the skin, it can be difficult to get rid of them. Resveratrol has been shown to help prevent uv-induced skin hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the excess production of melanin pigment in the skin.
To help prevent hyperpigmentation or lighten the appearance of pigmentation spots, use Skin Brightening Anti-Ageing Collection which has been specially formulated to gently brighten the skin and lighten pigmentation spots while also reduce the signs of ageing.

Resveratrol Protects Skin From Inflammatory Ageing
Chronic inflammation is one of the major factors in premature ageing and various diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, alzheimer's and arthritis.
A study by University of Seville in Spain suggested that Resveratrol has the ability to prevent and reduce chronic inflammation. By preventing and reducing the chronic inflammation in the skin, resveratrol helps reduce and prevent the formation of wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin and other signs of ageing.
If your skin shows prominent signs of ageing, apply Overnight Skin Perfector to freshly-cleansed face and neck every night, avoiding the immediate eye area. Follow with Bio-Collagen Serum. Overnight Skin Perfector has been formulated with alpha and beta hydroxy acids to gently peel off the dead skin cells to enable your skin to absorb the active ingredients in Bio-Collagen Serum more effectively.
“Excellent serum to use for the night to achieve great complexion, very effective!" Jasmine T.
