The Burberry Vintage Trench Coat for Stylish Men and Women too
Made in circa 1997, this original Burberry Trench Coat is a must have item for serious fashion collectors. A rare vintage iconic product of Great Britain. This is one of the hardly found coats by the 163-year-old fashion brand that still carries the 'Burberrys' logo before it was reversed back to the 'Burberry' logo in 1999.
Ibought this dark blue coat at Burberry Boutique in Takashimaya, Singapore in 1998. With a detachable wool lining for winter, size 42, much bigger than my usual 34/36 size, for a purpose. I hardly worn this coat, but when I did, I tightened the belt to accentuate the waistline. This style works wonder if you are brave enough to make your mark wherever you step your feet into.
In fashion, a style has to be developed not copied. Style embraces uniqueness and authenticity. There is no boundary between fashion for men and fashion for women.
The History of Burberry since 1856
Founded in 1856 by a 21-year-old Thomas Burberry, this fashion brand has changed slightly from Burberry to Burberrys as the brand gained a global recognition as the 'Burberrys of London'. However, in 1999, the company decided to use their initial trademark 'Burberry' again.
Burberry is known for the iconic trench coat. The Burberry trench coat was initially designed to accommodate the needs of military personnels. The name itself is referring to it being worn by British officers in the trench during the First World War.
The popularity of Burberry trench coat helped the company grow from one shop in the Haymarket, London, in 1891, to over 50 shops around the world including their flagship boutique in Regent Street, London. Through this iconic product, the words of 'trench coat' were born.
