How to Prevent and Get Rid of Milia

Nicknamed as milk spots, milia (the plural of milium) are small cysts that usually appear in cluster on the face. Although they can appear anywhere, milia commonly appear on the skin around the eyes and on the cheeks.

What Causes Milia?

Milia form when the dead skin cells or keratin, a protein, get trapped under your skin.

How to Get Rid of Milia?

Most of the times, milia will disappear on their own within weeks or months. Don't be tempted to remove them on your own. Squeezing and poking at them can damage your skin. If you want them to disappear fast, you can get them removed by a skincare professional. The removal of milia often requires an incision.

How to Prevent and Reduce Milia

How to Prevent Milia?

There are 3 simple things that you can do to help prevent the appearance of milia:

1.  Cleanse your face properly

Cleanse your face twice a day, in the morning and at night. Always remove your make up before you go to bed.

2. Exfoliate regularly

Instead of using a face scrub or chemical peeling, use a muslin cloth to gently exfoliate your skin. I use it while I clean my face at night. It helps remove the dead skin cells without causing skin irritation.

To boost skin renewal naturally, use a skincare product that contains linoleic acid, the major component of cacay oil. Linoleic acid, also known as omega 6 fatty acid, has been proven to boost skin renewal and reduce various signs of ageing.

PariQu Rose & Cacay Hydrating Serum Cream is a two-in-one serum and moisturiser for all skin types from acne-prone, premature ageing to sensitive skin. Formulated with cacay oil and Saccharide Isomerate, a skin-identical hydrating complex extracted from plant. This biotechnology ingredient provides skin with a deep and long-lasting hydration that lasts up to 72 hours. It helps reduce skin tightness, flakiness and itchiness, commonly associated with dry or dehydrated skin.

PariQu Blue Chamomile & Cacay Facial Oil is a very nourishing yet quickly absorbed face oil that instantly comforts and calms dry skin. It helps lock in moisture and keep skin supple, soft and smooth for longer.

3. Choose and use non-comedogenic skincare products

Silicones and its derivatives such as dimethicone, cyclomethicone and cyclopentasiloxane, are known to be comedogenic. They clog your pores, traping oil, dead skin cells and keratin. Avoid using any face serum or moisturiser that contains silicone and its derivatives.
