It effectively removes dead skin cells, unclogs congested pores and balances sebum production. Also known as beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid visibly improves skin texture and promotes a more even, radiant skin tone.

What is Benzoyl Peroxide?

Benzoyl Peroxide is another commonly used ingredient in skincare for acne and blemish treatment. It has excellent antibacterial properties which helps reduce the number of propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria which causes acne vulgaris) on the skin.

Salicylic Acid vs Benzoyl Peroxide: Which One is Better?

Both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide reduce acne inflammation. Studies showed that benzoyl peroxide is more effective for treating inflammatory acne lesions. However, salicylic acid is less drying and less irritating, so it is best for treating blemishes and mild acne including blackheads and whiteheads.
